LAYO does not have an assistance fund for this trip as money currently being raised will help support the fall and spring sessions for the Orchestras. However, LAYO will be providing fundraising tools that will assist in each family’s efforts to raise funds for this trip. This will include providing materials and assistance to students to create personal fundraising pages that can be emailed to friends, family and colleagues. Previous tour participants have been extremely creative in raising money through hosting student chamber music concerts, garage sales and even busking on the Santa Monica Promenade!

Yes, based on availability. We will notify all parents as soon as the hotel and airfare are secured. It will be up to you to book your flight and hotel accordingly if you are not chaperoning.

Fantastic! We will need several parent chaperones, and the cost for chaperones is the same as the Land Only price. We will be holding informational meetings for potential chaperones once the Fall semester has commenced.

We will make arrangements for your family to meet us when we arrive in Manhattan so the student can join the group or make arrangements for you to pick up your student at the end of the tour before the group departs NYC.

No. The students must remain with the group for the entire trip, for both logistical and liability reasons. Parents are welcome and encouraged to attend the concerts.

Only students, chaperones, and LAYO staff will be permitted to ride on the buses and participate in the planned tour activities.

Yes, with the exception of percussion instruments and other large instruments including cellos, basses and tubas. Larger instruments will be rented by the tour company and available to students upon arrival at the hotel or rehearsal venue.

The chaperone assigned to your child will have detailed information, provided by you, and will take care of your child accordingly. The tour company will be informed of all special dietary needs.
