Audition RequirementsThe Los Angeles Youth Orchestra holds auditions for young musicians from throughout the Los Angeles area, aged 8-18, who have been studying for at least two years. Private instrumental study must continue while playing in the orchestra. We audition players of the following instruments:

There is a $100 audition fee due in advance of the audition. This audition fee will be returned if we have no seat in any of our groups for the auditioner. For the first audition in a given orchestra year this fee will be credited toward an admitted student's tuition. If a current members requests a second audition for placement, the $100 fee will be charged in addition to tuition.

When you contact us about an audition, we'll want to know your name, your instrument, your grade in school, the number of years you've studied your instrument and what you are working on now in your lessons.
We will be holding our first set of auditions for the fall of 2013 on May 18 and 19. Our season starts on September 8, and there will be more September auditions for any positions remaining unfilled. Currently we are especially eager to find advanced woodwind and brass players. Contact us if you would like to schedule an audition.
