Vienna Prague Tour Itinerary

Tuesday, June 18
- Airline departure from LAX
Wednesday, June 19
- Arrival in Vienna
- Meet MCI Tour Managers and transport to central Vienna
- Lunch with chaperone group
- Orientation tour of Vienna including Ringstrasse, Beethoven Monument, Central Cemetery, Karntner Strasse area including St Stephen Cathedral and Vienna State Opera House
- Afternoon check in to hotel
- Welcome Dinner and return to hotel for overnight
Thursday, June 20
- Full buffet breakfast at hotel
- LAYO Morning rehearsal in hotel ballroom or at Vienna Bach School
- Guided tour of Musical Vienna including the Musikverein and Vienna State Opera House. Visit Haus Der Musik, interactive sound museum and University of Music and Performing Arts Vienna.
- Lunch with chaperone group
- Afternoon visit to Kahlenberg/ Vienna Woods and Beethoven’s Heligenstadt apartment.
- Dinner at Mayer am Pfarrplatz, a former home of Beethoven
- Attend evening concert performance (possibly Vienna Philharmonic, Vienna State Opera, Vienna Residence Orchestra, etc)
- Return to hotel for overnight
Friday, June 21
- Full buffet breakfast at hotel
- Morning excursion to Eisenstadt, former home of Haydn when he worked under the Esterhazy patronage with visit to the Esterhazy Palace and Haydn Museum
- Late morning or midday LAYO Performance in Eisenstadt at the Haydnsaal for local music students as part of the American Celebration of Music in Austria Concert Series
- Lunch with chaperone group
- Afternoon return to Vienna for leisure time and shopping
- Dinner and return to hotel for overnight
Saturday, June 22
- Full buffet breakfast at hotel
- LAYO morning rehearsal with the orchestra of the Vienna Johann Sebastian Bach Musikschule
- Lunch with chaperone group
- Afternoon tour of the Hofburg Imperial Palace, Vienna City Hall, Burgkapelle (home of the Vienna Boys Choir), Palace Stables and Strauss Monument
- Visit to Belvedere Palace to see the Klimt paintings
- Dinner
- LAYO Evening Performance at the MuTh
- Return to hotel for overnight
Sunday, June 23
- Full buffet breakfast at hotel, followed by check out
- Morning transfer via bus to Prague (approx 5 hours)
- Visit to Mahler Museum in Jihlava
- Lunch with chaperone group
- Visit to the Castle District to see Hradcany Castle, St. Vitus Cathedral, the Old Royal Palace and the Golden Lane.Also visit the Lobkowicz Palace, part of the Prague Castle complex.
- Afternoon check-in to hotel
- Dinner and overnight
Monday, June 24
- Full buffet breakfast at hotel
- Morning guided tour of Old Town Prague includes seeing the Astronomical Clock, the Tyn Church, the John Lennon Wall and the historic Jewish Quarter
- Lunch with chaperone group
- Free time for shopping in the Old Town Square
- Dinner
- LAYO Evening Performance in the Dvorak Hall of the Rudolfinum
- Return to hotel for overnight
Tuesday, June 25
- Full buffet breakfast at hotel
- Morning guided tour of Musical Prague including visits to the Dvorak Statue, Mozart “Ghostly Statue”, the Estate Theatre (where Mozart’s Don Giovanni opera premiered) and entrance to the Dvorak Museum.
- Lunch with chaperone group
- Enjoy late afternoon river cruise on the Vltava River – one of the most delightful ways to the see the beauty and scenery of the historical city center
- Farewell Dinner
- Return to hotel for overnight
Wednesday, June 26
- Full buffet breakfast at hotel, followed by check out
- Transfer to the Prague Airport for return flight home to Los Angeles.
- Arrive home to LAX, on same day as departure from Prague.

Registration opens August 1, 2023.
- To register, we require a $100 non-refundable deposit and registration form, which will be available on the LAYO website.
Please note: Registration will be for students only at this time. Chaperones will register at a later time. - All payments must be made directly to Los Angeles Youth Orchestra via check or online through PayPal.
- Last day to register for the tour is February 1, 2024.
